University of Virginia Rotunda

Thomas Jefferson's University of Virginia Rotunda was built as a half-scale interpretation of the Pantheon in Rome. It is the signature landmark of the University of Virginia and its Dome Room housed the University's original library.

Construction started in 1822 and was completed shortly after Jefferson's death in 1826.
